Art Journaling, It's a Beginning

Back in October I was looking around Pinterest for ideas on journaling. I haven't kept a consistent journal for almost 15 years and thought that I really needed to keep track of what was going on in my life.  I have a horrible memory and sometimes my girls ask me about things and I can't remember.  I wanted to keep track of what happens in our life so I can remember and also have that memory to pass down to my children.  My mother-in-law gave each of her children a journal with pictures of fun things that happened when they were growing up.  It's a nice thing to have and add to our family history.

Thrift Store Finds - Canvas

My find for this week were some great sturdy canvases.  They have wood support backing and I love them. I've already taken the picture off of the smaller one and painted the other one a base coat of white.

Buying canvases at a regular store can be quite pricey.  I have gotten a few on special deals (a 2 pack for $4), but they weren't as good of quality as these two are. If you look on Amazon for these canvases, the 12 x 12 canvas would be $10.58 and the 6 x 6 canvas would be $8.66.  Would you believe that I paid $1.00 for the large canvas and .50 for the smaller?  I'd call that a great deal!!

Baseball picture frame

A few weeks ago I posted about a picture frame I found at the thrift store. You can find the post here.  I finally got around to updating the picture frame.  As you may have noticed in my crafts, most of them are a little bit girlish.  That's because I have two little sweet daughters.  I have so many cute patterns of scrapbook paper that would be perfect for boys and wanted to use them.  So I decided to make this cute picture frame.
Here is what the frame looked like when I bought it.

Thrift Store Finds - 6 B's Sign

I'm so excited by my newest Thrift Store Find.  It's a project I was going to try to do myself, but I didn't know how I wanted to organize it.  When I saw this at the thrift store I knew that I needed to buy it because it was just perfect for me!

These are President Gordon B. Hinckley's "6 B's".  Back in November 2000 he gave a great talk to the young single adults about the B's that they should have in their life.  I've loved his counsel and advice all these years.  I had wanted a visual reminder of his 6 points and now am so happy that I found this.

I've been working on my letters....

I've really enjoyed working with these wood letters and decorating them. I like to search through my scrapbook paper and the embellishments to decide on what I'm going to use to make my newest project.  It's like a fun treasure hunt!

Here are a few pictures of the items I used to make the letters.  If you are wanting to learn to make your own, please visit this post for the directions.

Ruffle Scarves

The local Jo-Ann Fabrics in my town is moving to a new location so they have discounted all merchandise in the store.  I was looking at the yarn section and found this cute yarn to make ruffle scarves.
