Painted Terra Cotta Pots

Adding a few colorful pieces to my spring decorations was so easy with these painted terra cotta pots. This was a quick DIY project and I love the finished result. In 15 minutes you can have multiple painted terra cotta pots. Read below to see how you can make these for your own home.

A few weeks ago I was wandering around Hobby Lobby (which truth be told, happens every 2 weeks or so because I can't stay away!) and I saw a package of small terra cotta pots (2.625 inch). There were six in the package and I thought they would be perfect for adding to my spring display, using to plant some small flowers to give to friends, or plant some succulents. I didn't want to leave them the terra cotta color though, so I decided to paint them. I had never painted pots before, so it was going to be a crafting adventure for me.

If you want to add some color to your pots go ahead and grab some paint and a brush, read my tutorial, and get crafting!

Collage This Journal - A Book Review

I'm always looking for a new way to journal the happenings in my life and my dreams and goals. Read my review of Collage This Journal by Eleanor Shakespeare below.

In Collage This Journal, Eleanor Shakespeare has created interesting and unique journal prompts. She combines hand-lettering, images, different textures, and colors to create illustrations on the pages of this journal.

I like the idea of creating collages to capture memories and using them to create journal pages. I really liked the journal prompt topics that Eleanor uses throughout the book. Thinking of what you would put in a time capsule, who you would invite to an ultimate dinner party, key events from your life that have led you to this point, and filling a page with bright ideas are fun and I look forward to doing those prompts.  I'm not sure if this style of illustration is my favorite though. I tend to gravitate more toward shabby or crafty instead of old fashioned photos.

Oven Roasted Ranch Potatoes

If you are looking for a new side dish for your next family dinner, try these deliciously simple oven roasted ranch potatoes. They are sure to be a big hit! Don't forget to check the bottom of my post for more delicious potato recipes from other bloggers.

My kids love to request these potatoes for dinner. Maybe it's because we call them Vader Taters and they think it's a fun name, but judging by how fast these disappear from their plates I'd say they love the taste too!

Creative Bucket List 2016

I enjoy creating lists. Lists of fun activities, to-do list, blog ideas, errands to run for the day, grocery lists, and goals. I decided to write down a bucket list of creative projects I want to work on during 2016. I thought that sharing my ideas could help inspire you to work on creative projects of your own throughout the year.

When I sat down to write this list, I wanted to add a few different type of creative crafts for the year. I have a mix of sewing, painting, a button craft, a wood DIY project, paper craft, and photography. I'm excited to work on these home decor projects and gifts.

DIY Luck O' the Irish Block

This weekend I decided to make a quick St. Patrick's Day decoration. This DIY block is easy to make and I love how it turned out. Read this tutorial to make your own Luck O' the Irish block.

A craft group I belong to, Creative Craft Bloggers Group, has a monthly craft challenge. Last month we created crafts that had to do with hearts. This month it was my turn to pick the topic for our craft. I decided that we should all create something made with scrapbook paper.

This phrase popped into my head when I was thinking about what I should create for the scrapbook paper challenge. I looked through the wood pieces I had in the garage in my thrift store stash and happened to have a great square block to use. I found some other treasures that I had forgotten about and will be featuring in projects soon!
