With just a few ingredients, you will have a sweet and tasty snack. There are so many varieties of apples to choose from when you make homemade applesauce. Soft varieties are better suited for making applesauce, and having a mixture of apples makes the taste well rounded.

Some apple types you may want to use: Golden Delicious, Fuji, Cortland, McIntosh, Gala, and Gravenstein. For my applesauce, I used a mixture of Fuji, Golden Delicious, Gala, and Honeycrisp.

Slow Cooker Chunky Cinnamon Applesauce

Slow cooker applesauce is so easy to make! You will love the wonderful flavor of the cinnamon applesauce, and it's so much better for you than the jarred store-bought kind.

Ingredients for Cinnamon Applesauce

cinnamon applesauce ingredients

12-14 medium size apples (a variety of any soft and sweet apple)
1/2 cup apple juice
1 Tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions to Make Slow Cooker Cinnamon Applesauce

1. Use nonstick spray to coat the inside of your slow cooker. This makes for faster cleanup.

2. Wash your apples, then peel and slice. I use an apple slicer to make it a quick and easy job.
3. Place your apples in the slow cooker, add juices, then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Stir to combine.
4. Cover slow cooker with lid and cook on low for 3 hours. Apples will be softened, but will not fall apart.
5. Stir with wooden spoon to break up apple pieces, or use a potato masher. In our house, 3 of us love chunky applesauce and I stir for about 2 minutes. The 4th member of our family liked very smooth applesauce and I use a blender to make it smooth for her.

That's it! Serve and enjoy! Or store in the refrigerator for up to a week. But really, once your family smells this cooking, it will be gone in no time at all.

  1. I have never made it but I need to try and do so. I have a friend who makes it every year and freezes hers, that way they have it year round.
