Ginger's Garden Cafe

To wrap up my week about Springville, I'm writing about Ginger's Garden Cafe.  It is located in the little downtown area of the city.  As with many downtown areas, there isn't much street parking.  They do have parking next to the cafe.  In fact, I wouldn't have gone to eat there except I was stopped in traffic and happened to look over and see the neat artwork on the side of the building.  I saw that it was a cafe and decided to find a parking space and check it out.  They serve whole foods that are organic and many ingredients are locally grown.  They serve soups, salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers (chicken or veggie), grilled items, smoothies and desserts. They have quite a few options that are vegan or vegetarian.

The cafe is located in a building that has a health food store also. They sell organic items, nutritional supplements, natural beauty products and loose herbs to make teas.  When you walk in the building it smells so nice because of all the herbs.  It is definitely an earthy place that can appeal to anyone.

The seating area is delightful.  There is a pergola over the area stringed with chili pepper lights.  I didn't eat at the cafe, but next time I will just because of the atmosphere.

For my meal, I ordered half versions of their Southwest Salad and the Turkey Sandwich.  It was $10.  That may seem kind of pricey, but the food is healthy and tasty.  Really, you can get the same amount of food at Cafe Zupas or Kneaders for about the same price, but I liked Ginger's because I know that their ingredients are better for me.  I think it's worth it.

The salad had a great mixture of greens, black beans, tomatoes, corn, red onion, cilantro, blue corn strips and vegan Ranch dressing.  It was a wonderful mixture of tastes and I loved it.  The ranch dressing was so tasty.  People in the area talk about how wonderful the ranch dressing is at the Creamery at BYU, but I thought this was even better!  The turkey sandwich had avocado, sprouts, red peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, dijon mustard and a very good Vegenaise.  I loved the addition of red peppers and there was a perfect amount of avocado.  My only complaint was the marbled rye bread.  It tasted good, but it started to come apart where the two different types of rye met.  I think next time I will try their Grilled Lemon Chicken burger and their Mellow Yellow smoothie (mango, peach juice and spearmint from their garden).

They have a table that has a display of handmade jewelry for sale that are all made by local artists.  I thought that was a great addition.
